AI is short for Artificial Intelligence. There is a lot of debate going on in the tech world about the consequences of computers becoming too powerful. Every major Silicon Valley corporation is working on some form of AI. Ray Kurzweil predicts that humans and machines will be able to merge sometime around the year 2050.
For this post I would like you to find do some research and find an article that debates the pro's and cons of Artificial Intelligence and then share a brief summary of the article and how you feel about the implications of the technology. Please include a link to the article in your response.

ReplyDeletethe article talks about how ai would be a big improvement to work school and public places. All though the positives of ai do out number the negitives . the negitive effect seem to be more serious and can be a safe hazzard in some cases.
DeleteArtificial Intelligence could work as well as life saving anesthesia and biomedical technology and as bad as Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. The digital world has been developing faster than ever and what seems to be a benefactor to society could just as easily be a detriment. Paul Ford describes in an a MIT Technology Review article that artificial intelligence could very well "begin a beautiful new era." The machines could solve problems that the human brain takes hours to figure out. It would be easier for people who have trouble explaining themselves express their feelings. It could help read mines in serious court cases or trials. However, this intelligence could "spell the end of the human race." It, as Bostrom describes, can get carried away and out of hand. Artificial Intelligence could end up controlling the people who created its expensive, state of the art machinery. After all, knowledge is power.

ReplyDeleteBefore going on to explain the advantages and disadvantages of AI, it should be explained first. "AI" is an acronym of Artificial Intelligence which means robotic intelligence. The pros and cons show us, humans, what might happen in the future.
DeleteThe introduction of artificial intelligence can both be highly beneficial and detrimental to society. According to the article, artificial intelligence was able to aid in the daily lives of taxi workers. Previous to AI, taxi cab workers in major cities such as Tokyo had to make educated guesses to find customers locations. That is when NTT Docomo was introduced. NTT Docomo is a passenger pickup system that predicts where the most potential clients will be available for pickup. This was a major accomplishment as it allowed for a boost in business. However, with that being said AI raises concerns as it is highly intelligent and can actually learn and act by itself. This could potentially be problematic due to "privacy concerns and potential fraud cases" as stated in the article.

Artificial intelligences has its benefits by being able to create inlligent robots or cars, that takes away the jobs of many humans, and the risks because they're some weapons that are dangerous and programmed kill.
