By now you have probably heard about Logan Paul. If not, he's a Youtube "celebrity" that recently filmed himself in Japan making fun of a suicide victim. It sparked global disgust and outrage and has since been removed from Youtube. Before it was removed it had been viewed 6 million times and most of his viewers are young people.
It is important to discuss issues like this when they come up. Seeing incredibly graphic content displayed in a mocking manner can be debilitating for young people who may or may not have developed coping mechanisms for viewing such material.
For this post please comment about your reaction to this case. Were you aware of who he was and what happened? What do you think is an appropriate response? With just a click of a camera we can instantly transmit high offensive and morally repugnant content. How far is too far?

We, as humans here on earth, are responsible for each other. We don't always realize, but people have to keep the world running. This alone puts value on the person. Everyone should be respected. Logan Paul's inappropriate response, video taping suicide, offends many. It depreciates the person who took their valuable human life and gives the impression that the person did not matter. They could be made a laughing stock out of and put on the internet; Logan Paul is teaching the wrong messages to aficionados who may not be educated on this. Someone should be policing the content that should not have been created in the first place. Logan Paul has gone too far and was carried away by his fame.
ReplyDeleteI believe Logan Paul is wrong for doing this on many levels and this has effected his career negatively. I knew who Logan Paul was because of his "clashings" with his brother, which were proved to be fake just for views and money. What he was very inappropriate, he should not have recorded a deceased body, nor should he have laughed about it. This is way to far. It becomes to far when we're ruining a human's life. It becomes to far when we're making these inappropriate content viewable for young children, Logan's fanbase is mostly 12 to 16 year olds.
ReplyDeleteLogan Paul is definitely wrong for what he did. Although he apologized for the highly offensive video, the damage had already been done. Many of his viewers are under the age of 18 and are easily influenced by what they view on the internet. His actions told everyone that he considers suicide to be a joke and that "it's okay to laugh at a deceased body.". Suicide should be taken seriously and not to be laughed at.
ReplyDeleteAs a fan of Logan Paul ( which I no longer am) , and seeing the disturbing content on his youtube channel caused me to view Logan Paul differently. I believe that as a young adult who has a youtube channel and knows that young kids follow his channel and look up to him, he should've known better. It was truly inappropriate for not only children to see this material but people in general. I think in todays society suicide shouldn't be considered a joke, and should be publicized in a formal and respectable manner, because it's a serious crisis, so many people are currently going through it. Therefore, Logan Paul is wrong and went to far with the actions that he made.
